The new era of console gaming is here now that that both the Xbox One and PS4 have been released. I received an invite to Microsoft’s launch party in L.A. at Milk Studios and spent far too much time sitting in awe of FIFA14 on the Xbox One. One word: ballboys.
I took a moment some time during the night to think about how far this sector of the industry has grown. Did Nintendo ever throw a launch party like this when it released the NES or SNES? Nope! Maybe Miyamoto & co. tossed back some sake at the office the morning of but gaming companies weren’t throwing parties like this up until this past decade. Is E3 to blame?
